Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Samuel Nartey George has vowed to lead residents of his constituency to block the convoy of President Akufo-Addo anytime he plies the Dawhenya or Afienya roads in protest of the appalling state of roads in the area.
The MP claims that the constituency’s roads have been in deplorable condition for some time.
Speaking to the media, Sam George bemoaned a contractor’s incapacity to fix the roads seven years after winning the contract due to a lack of funding.
“Just look at the road, in Akufo-Addo’s hometown, the cemetery road they have done asphalt. Look at the road, this is the road to his wife father’s house, his in-laws, this are the roads we have. We have complained about this road, the Minister of Roads has literally said he’s giving up.
Because we don’t know if the problem is the Roads Minister or the one who is always wearing white and quoting the Bible but killing all of us by refusing to release money (Finance Minister). A contractor has been put on this road seven years and counting, I’m hearing two weeks ago they came and said they are coming to remove the culverts.
I am waiting for them they should come again. What is the meaning of this? This is Ghana, the people of Ningo-Prampram and Afienya also deserve good roads, what is the meaning of this.
The Legislator warned: “Maybe I need to organize my people, let me serve notice. Mr President, the next time you are going to Akosombo, I will block you at Afienya.
Or the next time you are going to the Volta Region, I will block you at Dowuenya and let you walk on this road to see. We also pay taxes, what is this? We have begged for seven years, what crime have we committed? Or it’s because of Sam George? You get votes here, what is the meaning of this? If the President uses this road everyday, if his beautiful Rebecca uses this road everyday will he be happy? Must we beg the President and his Ministers to do they job we pay them a salary for?,” Sam George angrily quizzed.
