On Monday, during matchday 27 in the Swedish Allsvenkan, IF Elfsborg secured a victory by using two goals from Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo.
The 24-year-old’s team defeated AIK 3-0 at home to maintain their lead atop the league standings. He scored two goals.
In the game’s fourteenth minute, Baidoo opened the score, giving his team a well-earned lead. In the last third, he deflected a throw from the opposition and then gently caught his teammate’s blocked pass.
He hit a low shot past the opposition goalkeeper to put his side in front at home.
Johan Larsson doubled the lead for Elfsborg as they headed into the break with a 2-0 scoreline.
That lead became three in the 79th minute,, with Baidoo scoring from the penalty spot and wrapping up victory for his side.
The result sees Elfsborg reclaim the top spot in the Swedish top flight with three games to go until the end of the season.
Elfsborg is closely followed by Malmo on the league table,, with two points separating the two teams.
With his brace on Monday, Baidoo has now scored five goals and provided six assists in 26 league games this season for the club.
