Kurt Okraku was re-elected President of the Ghana Football Association during the 2023 Elective Congress held on Thursday in Tamale.
During the congress, Okraku was elected as the only candidate for the position with the overwhelming support of the 120 delegates present. The voting process resulted in an impressive 97.5% of the total votes cast, with 117 delegates in favor of his continued leadership. Only two delegates voted against him, while one delegate abstained from the vote.
This decisive mandate reaffirms Okraku’s position as the head of Ghana’s football governing body and reflects the high level of confidence that delegates have in his leadership.
It should be noted that the election between Okraku and George Afriyie was delayed due to legal issues and Afriyie’s disqualification. The hearing for the injunction filed by King Faisal is scheduled for October 12.
Afriyie also filed an injunction in a Ghanaian court and petitioned the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Despite legal challenges, President Okraku received an overwhelming endorsement from delegates.
