Following Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s departure from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sam Nartey George launched a stinging attack on the former minister of trade and industry.
Regarding the “colossal” economic management failure of the current government, he claimed Mr. Kyerematen is just as accountable as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Sam George said, “Alan Kyerematen sat in this failing government for seven years,” during a meeting with Odododiodoo residents ahead of Tuesday’s #OccupyBoGProtest.
He is the same as them, not different. The Komenda Sugar Factory was a failure, which Alan Kyerematen oversaw. He shares nothing unique with Bawumia. The value remains constant.
“So, whether he’s a mammoth butterfly or whatever it is, you should ask yourself: the elephant is a destructive animal; the butterfly, which is very colorful, is very toxic, according to entomologists.
“Predators are repelled by their color,”
The NDC lawmaker was responding to Mr. Kyerematen’s declaration that he would run as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections shortly after his resignation.
In order to garner support for his campaign, the former NPP member declared the launch of the Movement for Change.
Mr. Kyerematen announced the monarch butterfly as his emblem and the brand motto, “Ghana Will Rise Again,” at a news conference on Monday, September 25.
“The new Movement will be led and powered by the youth of Ghana,” he said.
Sam George, however, claimed that the value is the same whether it was the destructive Bawumia elephant, Kennedy Agyapong, or the toxic butterfly Alan Kyerematen.
“Ghana is in a crisis.”
