Three individuals arrested in Diabene, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, are currently facing prosecution by the Western Regional Police Command. It is believed that they have ties to the Russian Wagner mercenary group.
The youth held a public durbar, and while doing so, they were spotted flying the Russian and Wagnerian flags. The accused have been named as Ernest Asiedu, 26, Michael Asiedu, 23, and Evans, 25.
The three guys organized roughly 20 youth to form a military group in the Diabene community park with the assistance of a supposed Australian sponsor. On the other hand, a tip-off led to their arrest by the police.
Ramatu Ibrahim, an assemblywoman from Fijai who supervises Diabene, confirmed the occurrence, expressed amazement, and called for their prosecution.
“I questioned how they were trained to fight war against the government because the police claimed that following their arrest and questioning, the youngsters claimed they were performing a freedom demonstration. They were playing the national anthem while lifting several flags from various nations.
“After the police explained everything to them, they realized they had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Their powerful leader is abroad, and the leader in Ghana is 25 years old. I found out that if their intended course of action is successful, they will receive some money,” she stated.
They have already appeared in court twice at the Takoradi Circuit Court, but are currently out on bond, according to The Spinner, Mensah Promise, who was also detained with the suspects while playing music for the durbar.
