The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to give party members at least ten appointments in each constituency when he is elected president. This is in response to the complaint made frequently by grassroots party members that they are frequently overlooked during the formation of governments after helping their parties win power.
Dr. Bawumia stated that in his government, all 275 constituencies in the nation will have the chance to be represented in government in a speech given to NPP delegates in the Central Region’s Awutu Senya East Constituency ahead of the NPP’s presidential primary.
Party supporters claim that when their party is elected to form a government, they are excluded from the decision-making procedures.
“For that reason, I’m proposing three measures that, in my opinion, if used successfully, will improve the integration of the party and the administration. Appointments come first on the list. Whenever there are appointments, the constituencies typically complain that they were overlooked.
“So, what I’ll do is that in governance, a president can make about 7,000 appointments, and we have 275 constituencies, and we’ll add one more to make them 276 next year, so my plan is that some of the 7,000 appointees can come from the constituencies,” he said.
“One constituency, ten appointments, is my suggestion. This will guarantee that 2,760 appointments will be made in total for all the constituencies, according to Dr. Bawumia.
In the meanwhile, he has also urged an honorable and respectable campaign in the run-up to the party’s presidential primary.
Dr. Muhammadu Bawumia claims that the election is a “family contest.”
He said that, according to UP tradition, everyone of the nine candidates comes from the same ancestral roots.
As a result, he has advised his supporters to refrain from verbally disparaging other candidates who are running to lead the party in the upcoming general election.
