The police have launched a manhunt for twin brothers accused of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old teenager at a famous drinking spot in Berekum, Bono Region.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, July 16, 2023, about 0130 hours, according to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and the body of the deceased, Alhassan Sulemana, has since been placed at the Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
A source from the Berekum Divisional Police Command confirmed the occurrence to the GNA but declined to speak further.
The dead and the suspects, only identified as Harus and Farouk, were buddies who were reported to have attended a night party with others at the drinking bar where they had a misunderstanding.
During the melee, one of the suspects grabbed a pair of scissors from his pocket and stabbed the victim in the chest.
Hajia Safia Sulemana, the deceased’s mother, was overcome with emotion after learning of his son’s death and pleaded with the police to conduct a speedy investigation.
She informed reporters that her kid and the suspects were childhood friends and that she had no idea how the incident occurred.
