Ivy Amewugah, the Volta Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has attributed the flood that happened on Saturday, July 8 in the regional capital Ho to errant buildings on waterways.
She has therefore urged the Ho Municipal Assembly to take action and demolish any errant buildings.
We recognized that some persons had structures on waterways, and the assembly had a responsibility to see to it that those structures were taken down.
Homes and businesses were wrecked on Saturday by torrential rains in Ho, the regional hub of Volta.
Around 3:30 PM, the rain began, and it continued for about four hours.
Ho Bankwe, Ho Polyclinic, SDA, and Power House were some of the places that were impacted.
When asked how much damage had been done, Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Richard Divine Kwamla Bosson responded, “[The people] should go out there and do what is to be done], when you want people to tell you to sweep your environment and they are to tell you, it goes with a cost.”
