Boakye Agyarko, a contender for the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer position, has urged the party to take action against flagbearer candidates who are flouting election regulations.
Mr. Agyarko highlighted the significance of obeying the laws and standards to ensure an impartial and open election process.
Without sounding like a fly in the jar, Mr. Agyarko said, “It is crucial that all [candidates] obey the rules and regulations. There have been numerous provocations, and there have been many rule violations that have gone unpunished. I even brought up the issue before the national council.
“I believe that we would have a really calm contest as long as the rules are clear, as long as there is complete justice, and as long as we are all tempered or measured. But just don’t distance yourself from the entire procedure.
Agyarko was encouraged by Evans Nimako, the NPP’s director of elections, to inform the proper committees of any instances of candidates violating election rules.
Agyarko was given the reassurance by Nimako that the party will address the issues once they were brought up.
