During his probable presidential run, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Ghana’s transformation and economic development.
On Friday, June 16, Dr. Bawumia addressed ecstatic party supporters after submitting his presidential nomination form at the party’s headquarters in Accra. He pledged to improve the nation’s fortunes if elected.
He declared his desire to build on the solid foundation currently being maintained by the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“I think it’s time to build on the foundations we’ve already laid in order to take Ghana to the next level…I share your desire for Ghana to utilize data, technology, and systems to promote inclusive economic growth. Ghana should serve as Africa’s digital hub, in my opinion. I want us to close the digital divide and improve industries like healthcare, education, and public service delivery using digital technology and artificial intelligence.
He further stressed his 22-year journey, which included his time serving as the Bank of Ghana’s deputy governor under the Kufuor administration to the current administration, and his unshakable commitment to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghana.
“I have worked diligently with you for the NPP and for Ghana over the past 22 years, starting when I served as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, through our time in opposition, and now that we are in power.“During this period, I have sacrificed for the party, I have defended the party in good times and in challenging times, I have never wavered nor slacked. Never! and I have built a solid track record of performance as Vice President with an unflinching loyalty to our party and government through rain or shine,” he added.
