The founder of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, has been called to appear before them within fourteen days by the Chiefs of Nogokpo, a town in the Volta Region.
They claim they are not happy with the Man of God’s justification for his prior statement designating Nogokpo as the regional demons’ administrative center.
Because of this, they have requested that the National Peace Council “help Archbishop Charles Agyinasare appear before the council of elders of the Nogokpo community within 14 days for amicable resolution”
“The Archbishop in his second sermon and clarification showed no remorse or regretfulness, an indication that he deliberately decided to tarnish the good reputation of the people of Nogokpo and a calculated damage mechanism of the usual religious intolerance to weaken African Traditional Religion,” the convenor of the community Nufialaga Mawufemor Korbla Nonyigbey said at a press conference on Friday, June 2.
Archbishop Agyinasare earlier clarified that his remark concerning Nogokpo, a town in the Ketu South Municipality in the Volta Region, was made in good faith.
Nogokpo was referred to by him as the regional devils’ headquarters.
“Nogokpo is the demon region’s administrative center,” he declared. Although we haven’t spoken about it, on the second night I forced Bishop Yaw Adu to discuss witchcraft, and together we defamed witches and wizards. When we arrived at Nogopko, Bishop Yaw Adu’s four-wheel drive, while traveling from Aflao to Agbozome, the tires immediately pulled out from under the vehicle.
After receiving feedback, the Man of God clarified his statement, saying, “I have received calls from people who are very close to me, and my attention has been given to social media discussion on certain components of the speech I made this past Thursday during the Supernatural Empowerment Summit here in the Perez Dome.
“I was giving a sermon on the divine protection that Christians receive from God and advising the congregation that they needed to activate that protection in order to fend off demonic attacks. As Charismatic Christians, this is one of our guiding principles.
“To emphasize my point, I cited a number of occasions in which I ran into manifestations of demonic powers during my crusades, which took me to more than 92 different nations. I used the example of individuals trying to lift themselves during a crusade in India. I used the attack I endured when I was a very young pastor and went to preach at a bus stop near Korle Bu as an example.
“I want to make it clear that when I mentioned Nogokpo, I never meant to refer to the town itself, but rather to an event that took place following a crusade at Aflao. I had absolutely no desire to disparage the residents of Nogokpo Town or the Volta Region in general.
“I have a very good connection with the Volta Region’s populace. My 38-year-old wife is an Ewe from Keta. And the names of two of my sons are Ewe. All of the examples I used were meant to help attendees understand the idea of divine protection rather than to disparage any of the communities or the people who live there.
“We regret any misunderstanding or inaccurate material that has appeared in the commentary and reporting that followed.
“Over the past 40 years, my ministry has served as a spiritual gatekeeper, speaking out during pivotal moments in our country. I remain committed to serving God’s people and our nation as the spirit directs.”
