Police officers who were not promoted by the Ghana Police Service have filed lawsuits against the Attorney General, the Ghana Police Service, and the Inspector General of Police accusing them of acting arbitrarily and unfairly.
According to the police officers, the study leave with pay policy of the service entitles them to promotions after their studies are over, but even several months after finishing their studies, they have not yet received a promotion.
“All Plaintiffs applied for the 2017–2018 Academic Year Study Leave with Pay Program for Tertiary Courses Ranging Between Two (2) and Four (4) Years.
“Each and every Plaintiff having qualified was selected and made to enter into the required Bond to serve the Police Service upon completion of their various courses for at least Five (5) years upon condition that the Bond would be entreated when breached,” the selection process reads.
