During the 67th Independence Parade at the Tamale Jubilee Park on March 6, a total of 72 people collapsed due to severe dehydration from the harsh weather conditions. The collapsed individuals included students, service personnel, and soldiers who stood in the scorching sun for hours.
However, as part of the paramedic staff responsible for providing first aid at the regional Independence Day parade, the northern regional boss of the Ghana Red Cross Society, Yakubu Amin Abukari, successfully resuscitated all 72 people.
The parade was graced by several dignitaries, including the northern regional minister, Shani Alhassan Shaibu, and the mayor of Tamale, Sule Salifu, but it was unfortunate that so many people had to suffer from such preventable circumstances.
