The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is proposing a 24-Hour Economy policy that it believes will address some of the economic challenges facing the country and provide jobs for the youth.
The NDC’s Running Mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, says the policy is a response to the high unemployment rate in the country.
She noted that the unemployment rate is a source of great concern for the party’s Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, and that the 24-hour Economy policy is a quick answer to the problem.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang also pointed out that the policy is not new. She noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has already begun to implement it.
“But interestingly,” she said, “some people claiming to be economists are now saying that the NPP government is already implementing the policy.” Professor Opoku-Agyemang went on to say that political campaigns are about the sharing of ideas.
She urged the NPP to also inform Ghanaians of what it can do for them. She also urged the NPP to cease disseminating falsehoods, adding that ” one Cedi, two Cedis mobile phones” cannot be classified as a policy.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang urged Ghanaians to vote overwhelmingly for Mr. John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 general elections to enable him fulfill his promise of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
