The Black Queens’ elimination from the qualifiers has put an end to Ghana’s hopes of making it to the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
This follows the 3-3 draw between Zambia and Ghana.
Following a 1-0 victory over Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg, Zambia’s victory translated into a 4-3 aggregate victory.
Star player Barbra Banda’s late goal proved to be the difference as Ghana finished the match with just 10 players after Jennifer Cudjoe was sent off in the 95th minute.
Following the free kick, Banda scored to ensure Zambia’s advancement to the next round of qualification.
Banda scored his second goal of the match in the dying moments, with Mupopo Kabange’s goal sandwiching the two goals scored by the Zambian captain.
Gifty Assifuah, Doris Boaduwaa, and Bugri Azumah scored goals for Ghana in the 21, 55, and 65th minutes, respectively.
Assifuah replaced Freda Ayisi in Ghana’s starting unit after Charlton Athletic forward Ayisi started in the first leg in Accra.
Zambia takes on Morocco in the final eliminator.
